UAMS Receives $25,000 Gift for Mobile Mammography Program

A former dental hygienist, Laura Leslie Hill and her husband Chad founded the Siloam Springs Women’s Center OB/GYN clinic in Siloam Springs, Arkansas. Since it opened in 1998, they have remained the practice’s sole owners. Involved in her community, Laura Leslie Hill has directed donations to several local entities, including her alma mater, the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS).

In 1879, eight physicians invested $5,000 to open the first medical school in Arkansas. Since it opened, UAMS has grown to become the state’s only academic health center and is part of the statewide network of postsecondary education institutions found in the University of Arkansas system.

In February 2017, UAMS announced that its mobile mammography program received a $25,000 gift from Fidelity National Information Services, Inc. (FIS), an international provider of financial services technology. The gift allows the university’s mammography program to refurbish its MammoVan, which travels across Arkansas to offer digital screening programs and breast care information. The program purchased a second van since its original van needed to be refurbished. These MammoVans help reduce the hardships many women experience in securing breast health services by bringing the services directly to them.
